The North Dakota Jaycee Senate announces the 2nd Annual Lisa Burdolski Memorial Scholarships, a statewide scholarship competition for high school seniors.
The Lisa Burdolski Memorial Scholarship is dedicated to the memory of Lisa Burdolski, a Jaycee child who passed away as a result of injuries sustained in a motor vehicle accident. This year’s scholarship has been expanded with one additional scholarship, bringing total number of scholarships awarded to three.
Applicants will compete for three (3) scholarships of $300 each. Two (2)  primary award winners and one (1)  alternate winner will selected. The awards are to be used at the winner’s discretion at an institution school of higher learning of the winner’s choice. Both primary state award winners are then eligible to compete nationally for $1000 scholarships from the US JCI Senate Foundation competition in February 2012.

Article from Pres Jim

Greetings North Dakota Jaycees!!!

We had a very good meeting in September at the home of Senators Kirk and Lori Motl. We had 16 senators plus 8 family members at the meeting. Thank you so much to Kirk and Lori for hosting at the last minute. The steaks and wine were great. We had our Region VP LeaAnn Smith and her son James in attendance. A big thank you to Senator Bruce Kester who spearheaded the Lisa Burdolski Scholarship / Fuchs funds for Family raffle. Top prize was 2 nights at the Canad Inn in Grand Forks, Hockey tickets for both nights and a Sioux Jersey won by Cindy Obenchain of Minot. Second prize a Sioux Jersey won by Jacky Boyeff of Devils Lake. Third prize was a Tony Stewart autographed t-shirt won by Tad Espeseth of Minot. Fourth prize was a Terry Redlin print won by Del Groninger of Des Lacs Burlington. We raised a good amount to start up the Scholarship fund in North Dakota. See Senator Dennis Burdolski’s article about the Scholarship. More information and the form are on the nd.usjcisenate.org website.

We also voted to place a bid to host the Region VI Fall BOD meeting in 2011. We found we received the bid when Michelle Mosher and Angie Jelinek went to the Oct meeting in WI. Thirteen folks from ND made the trip down to Bloomington for the National Fall BOD. We had 9 Senators in attendance. It was a great learning experience for all of us who have never been to a national meeting. We hope to have more members go to future National meetings. Thanks to all the ND Senators who donated to the meeting: Dennis Burdolski#68703, Darlene Garmann #68956, Michelle Mosher #61744, Mike Faller #61847, Michele #67900 & Jeff #68702 Dean, Angie Jelinek #60570, Stan Hanson #43165, Mike Reickman #58210, Barry Medd #38410, Jim Van Eckhout #61781, Bill #45919 & Sharon Smith and Kirk #55033 & Lori Motl #62225.

Any chapters who would like to give out a Senatorship in January please contact Treasurer Angie Jelinek. Submissions need to be in by November 20, 2010. Our next meeting is to be on January 8, 2011 at 3 pm in Fargo at the Doublewood.

Wishing you all the best for the Holiday Season and safe travel.

Jim Van Eckhout
